New computers aren’t the only thing Samsung is teasing for CES 2015; music lovers will also be interested in the South Korean company’s futuristic new speaker lineup, which uses “ring radiator” technology to provide a 360-degree radius that fills your room with sound.
The new speakers are called the WAM7500 and the WAM6500 — and trust me, they’re far more exciting than their names. Both look like devices you might find in a well-designed spaceship, and thanks to proprietary Samsung technology, they promise a “rich-bodied” sound experience no matter where you are in the room.
“Unlike conventional speakers that project sound in a single direction, the WAM7500/6500 fills entire rooms with sound,” Samsung explains. “This breakthrough in approach to audio came through the utilization of proprietary ‘Ring Radiator’ technology which allows sound to flow in a 360-degree radius, with the perfect balance between treble and bass.”
The speakers were developed at Samsung’s new audio lab in Valencia, California. The larger, “stand-type” speaker is designed to stay in one play and deliver premium sound quality; while the smaller, “movable-type” speaker has a built-in battery and is designed to be taken with you as you move around your home.
Both devices connect wirelessly to TVs, smartphones, tablets, and other devices, and we’ll see more of them at CES 2015 in Las Vegas next month.
