‘Hitman: Agent 47′ trailer looks like every action movie ever

The first Hitman movie wasn’t awful, and I actually think Timothy Olyphant (of Justified fame) did a pretty solid job as the bald assassin. But I think we can all agree that the 2007 film was a little misguided, turning a coldblooded killer into a sappy sweetie-pie.

But here we are, watching the first trailer for the Hitman reboot, and it looks… like your typical action movie. Not that we expected it to be this amazing film. It was always going to be difficult translating the methodical, silent killer from the games into compelling cinema. But this doesn’t look at all like the Hitman games I grew up with.

Rubert Friend is donning the famous red tie garb, playing a much more arrogant, growling version of Agent 47 compared to what we saw in 2007. The lines you’d expect from a move like this are in full force.

You should really let me go.

Last time I checked you’re the one locked in here with me, and I’m the one with the gun.

No, Mr. Sanders, you’re locked in here with me. And you just brought me mine.

What?! Amazing. Absolutely amazing.

This year’s Hitman will follow Agent 47 as he targets “a mega-corporation that plans to unlock the secret of Agent 47’s past to create an army of killers whose powers surpass even his own.”

In case you were wondering, what makes Agent 47 such a remarkable assassin is that he has been genetically engineered (like the dino in Jurassic World) to be stronger, faster and smarter than your average human. So basically he’s like The Rock.

Hitman: Agent 47 is scheduled to hit theaters on Aug. 28, 2015.
