See full gallery on TechnoBuffaloApple on Monday announced a new ResearchKit set of tools that will allow iPhone users to submit data for research.
It’s a framework that allows researchers to create apps and then enable end-users to take advantage of products that already exist, such as the iPhone, to diagnose illnesses. Apple worked with University of Rochester to create a new app called mPower that lets iPhone users sign up and contribute to Parkinson’s research. You can take tests in the app to evaluate your illness, and it takes advantage of speech, text input and more to help diagnose you. It can also pull data from HealthKit.
That’s just one of five apps created with ResearchKit, others include tools for diagnosing heart disease, diabetes and more. The software tools should enable even more developers to build similar apps in the future.
