Here’s everything you might have missed over the past week.
Having proved their mettle with The Winter Soldier, it looks like Marvel wants the Russo brothers to commit to another movie. Actually, two movies. Deadline reports the Russo bros. have been asked by executives to take the reins of The Avengers: Infinity War, which is being split into two movies; part 1 is scheduled to hit in 2018, with part 2 scheduled for 2019. Deadline is also reporting Steven Spielberg is ready to take on sci-fi favorite Ready Player One. The film will be based on the beloved book written by Ernest Cline, which takes place entirely in a virtual world. [Deadline]
Going to the Star Wars Celebration next month? Gareth Edwards and Josh Trank, who are both directing spinoff Star Wars films, will be in attendance. The two will join Kathleen Kennedy, Kiri Hart and Pablo Hidalgo to discuss their involvement in the Lucasfilm creative family. It’s unlikely we’ll get many Rogue One details, but who knows? Has Captain Marvel secretly been cast? According to Latino Review, the part of Carol Danvers has been finalized, though Marvel is hoping to keep the news closely guarded. That’s because she’s expected to appear in Age of Ultron, which is coming to theaters on May 1. Look out for a surprise appearance by Danvers soon. [LatinoReview]
Jennifer Lawrence probably won’t be part of the X-Men universe for much longer. In a recent interview MTV, Lawrence said that X-Men: Apocalypse is her last involvement with the franchise. Bummer for Mystique fans. [MTVNews]
I remember The Ring leaving a huge impression on me when I saw it in theaters, so I’m holding out hope that Rings will be a return to form. The movie, which will take place years after the first film directed by Gore Verbinski, has begun filming, according to director F. Javier Gutierrez. I can’t wait. [Screenrant]

Another Latino Review report says Adam McKay, who has directed a number of your favorite comedies, is on-deck to direct an upcoming Marvel movie. The Walking Dead creator, Robert Kirkman, finally announced the name for the upcoming TV spinoff: Fear the Walking Dead. Seriously? Seriously. While not the most creative name, the show will be sticking around for at least two seasons, and will take place in Los Angeles before the main series.
