Who is that purple guy hanging out with the Avengers? I’m sure a lot of people will be asking that question over the next few weeks.
We’ve already been introduced to every other Avenger twice over, but one member that’s been left in the shadows is the Vision. He’s the new android addition to the crew, essentially the anti-Ultron. And while we haven’t yet seen him in action, we at least now know what he looks like. After showing up in a new Entertainment Weekly spread this week, the character poster has been shared, completely revealing the live-action interpretation.
You can see Paul Bettany’s face in the character; Bettany has voiced J.A.R.V.I.S. in all the Iron Man movies, so he’s a familiar presence. This time, however, he’s stepping out into a much larger role, and will likely play an integral part in the films going forward. It’s unclear just how much he’ll feature in Age of Ultron, or if he’ll simply be introduced toward the end and be saved for later films.
Either way, it’s fun to see how he’s being brought to life. The color palette might not match what comic lovers are used to, but I think he looks awesome. I’m really curious to see how Age of Ultron will handle Vision’s creation; that’s another area where the film seems to be breaking from the comics. Was he created in conjunction with Ultron? Or was it in response to Ultron’s power? We’ll find out on May 1.
For reference, I’ve included the new images of Vision, along with what he looks like in the comics, in the gallery above.
