Ultron has daddy issues in new ‘Age of Ultron’ clip

In Ultron’s eyes, he’s doing exactly what he was built to do: keep the peace. Unfortunately, he believes the only way to achieve that is to completely eradicate the human race. You, me, and everyone you know.

At this point, you can pretty much string together all the Age of Ultron footage we’ve seen over the past few months and make a coherent movie. But I’m still loving every minute of it. It’s one thing to see these clips and trailers on tiny computer screens, and another to be in a theater with a bunch of shouting fans on opening day.

What’s so striking to me about the clip above is how humanlike Ultron is. We’ve heard him talk before, but never to such an extent. And it turns out he isn’t just an evil jerk; he’s actually kind of charming and funny. But also very angry, especially when he’s around Tony Stark, who playfully refers to Ultron as “junior.” Cute.

Other talking points of the clip: Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch both appear to support Ultron’s cause, but we know at some point they decide to join up with the Avengers team. Also, Stark mentions Vibranium, which we figured would play a major role in the movie.

Otherwise we get a brief look at Ultron’s powers, but only long enough to leave us wanting more. It almost seems like a human is controlling Ultron, but it’s pure, unadulterated artificial intelligence.

The end of the clip reiterates just how dire the situation is.

“It’s the end,” Stark laments. “It’s the end of the path I started us on.”
