It was a big week for film—and an even bigger week for fans. Not only did we get the second teaser trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens, but we got a lengthy glimpse at Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. If you’re at all a fan of geek culture, or movies in general, then you’ll know the next few years are shaping up to be very exciting indeed. Just in the next 12 months alone, we’ll see movies like Age of Ultron, Ant-Man, Fantastic Four, Deadpool and many others. Wow.
But what about the stuff we didn’t get to this week? Well, there was a lot of intriguing stuff. There are a few trailers, and a few tidbits of news that could be huge if true. And did the upcoming Power Rangers reboot get a director? It sure sounds like it.

Olivia Munn as Psylocke in X-Men: Apocalypse
Director Bryan Singer announced through Instagram that Olivia Munn has been cast as Betsy Braddock, aka Psylocke. The character has a big presence in the comics, and some of the coolest powers, including the ability to manipulate psionic energy, project her astral self and telepathy. [BryanSinger]

Power Rangers reboot gets a director
Variety reports Project Almanac director, Dean Israelite, has been tapped to take charge of the Power Rangers reboot. You know the story of Power Rangers by now. We’re not entirely sure what the tone of the movie will be, but if Israelite’s past work is anything to go on, it’ll be dark and gritty. Hey, that doesn’t sound so bad. [Variety]

Wonder Woman loses one director, finds another
Apparently “creative differences” led to the departure of Wonder Woman director, Michelle MacLaren. Bummer. The good news is that director Patty Jenkins has been hired in her place. Jenkins is mostly known for her work in television, but she was also responsible for writing and directing 2003’s Monster. [HollwoodReporter]

More Deadpool set pics surface
Filming for Deadpool is in full swing, and it looks like folks involved are having a blast. Additional photos from the set have been released, showing off what appears to be an action sequence. Is that Colossus? Sure looks like it. [JustJared]

Chris Pratt cast in The Real McCoy
Chris Pratt has guarded the galaxy, saved Pawnee, killed Osama bin Laden, trained raptors and now he’s reportedly been cast for the lead in The Real McCoy. The film will be a little different from a typical Pratt film—The Real McCoy is about bootlegger Bill McCoy—but I’m sure his rising star power will be more than enough to raise interest in the film. [HollywoodReporter]

Captain Marvel almost appeared in Age of Ultron
Kevin Feige, head of Marvel Studios, said Captain Marvel was very close to appearing in Age of Ultron. While talking to Badass Digest, Feige admitted that Age of Ultron director, Joss Whedon, wanted the character to show up in the film, but they ultimately decided against it. Shucks. [BadassDigest]

San Andreas gets a fresh poster and international TV spot
If earthquakes terrify you, then San Andreas is not the movie you want to see. I’m not really sure if I like this disaster movie just yet, but I’m a big fan of The Rock, so I’m willing to give it the benefit of the doubt. This new international TV spot gives us a few new glimpses of the film, but it’s largely a big reminder that earthquakes are scary and Los Angeles is doomed. [ComingSoon]

Mad Max: Fury Road legacy trailer
OK, I’ll admit it: I haven’t seen the original Mad Max. If you’re in the same boat, a new legacy trailer kind of gets folks up to speed by showing footage from the 1979 original, as well as the two follow-ups in 1981 and 1985. The trailer concludes with some cool shots of Fury Road, which looks better and better each time we see it. [HollywoodReporter]

Tomorrowland featurette is all about science
The big take-away from Tomorrowland is that we should focus on science and imagination, and this newest featurette further expands that message. The short video is interspersed with footage from the movie, along with some terrific clips of Walt Disney himself talking about his perfect future. [Disney]
