Avengers: Age of Ultron director Joss Whedon has already revealed that there will be no post-credits scene when the movie hits theaters. So why does this new YouTube video suggest something huge is in store for fans?

If you don’t want to know what scene might be after the credits end in Age of Ultron, don’t read any further. I put the video at the bottom of this post to help avoid any accidental spoilers.

Here is the exact quote from Whedon in an interview with Entertainment Weekly:

“There is nothing at the very end,” Whedon said. “And that’s not a fake-out. We want people to know so they don’t sit there for 10 minutes and then go: Son of a bitch! I’ll kill them!”

Whedon says he’s not trying to fake us out, but this new video makes it seem like his words were indeed one big ruse. It’s worth noting that the famous shawarma scene from the first Avengers film was actually added after the first movie premiered, so it was a very, very late addition. That’s what might be happening again. Either Whedon was pressured into adding something, or he just didn’t want it to get spoiled before the film hits theaters on May 1.

And what a cool post-credits scene it is (if true). We have to take this with a huge grain of salt, but I wouldn’t be surprised to see Age of Ultron used as a way to tease Spider-Man ahead of his official appearance in Captain America: Civil War next year. It was a huge coup for Disney and Marvel Studios when the famous Web Slinger was added to the Marvel Cinematic Universe earlier this year, so it’s really no surprise that hype for his eventual involvement would start being built now.

I’d actually be more surprised to not see him pop up in Age of Ultron, post-credits or otherwise. I know his inclusion in the Marvel Cinematic Universe wasn’t announced until recently, but people are really anxious to see him involved with the Avengers, and teasing him now would be a great way to excite fans.

Of course, this is all assuming this post-credits scene is real. It looks pretty suspicious, and it’s obviously difficult to determine the quality when it’s a recording of the screen. If it is fake, it’s pretty damn convincing. You can see the Avengers Tower in the background of the scene, so you know everything is being set up in a very particular way. What’s surprising is that Spider-Man actually speaks.

That’s big news because it means an actor has already been chosen, though no official announcement has been made as of yet. If this scene is real, I’d imagine something official to drop in the coming days. I suppose we’ll find out if this scene is legit when Age of Ultron hits theaters on May 1.
