Tomorrowland is still one of the more mysterious movies coming out this year. We know the film takes place in a future where technology and science have created a utopia. But we still aren’t really sure how Frank Walker (George Clooney) and Casey Newton (Britt Robertson) factor into the story.
What’s clear is that the pin in Newton’s possession has the power to transport her to the world of Tomorrowland, but it apparently runs on a timer. In order to get back to that world, she enlists the help of Walker, a “former boy-genius” and inventor. I’m not sure why Newton is so eager to go to Tomorrowland, or how she knows Walker can take her there. But I’m very intrigued, and can’t wait to see more.
Judging by the newest trailer, it looks as though an unknown group (of robots?) will stop at nothing to eliminate both Newton and Walker because of what they know.
What’s great about this trailer (aside from showing a ton of new footage) is that it doesn’t just show off the beautiful and inventive world of Tomorrowland, but some great action, too. Director Brad Bird has a lot of experience with action films, so I have no doubts the film will feature some terrific set-pieces.
