A familiar face is returning to ‘Jurassic World’

I was just 8 years old when the first Jurassic Park came out, and I remember wanting to leave the theater because of how scared I was. One scene in particular, when the electricity goes out and the T. Rex breaks through the fence, had me shaking in my seat—especially when the goat’s leg is thrown onto the SUVs roof, a kind of ominous foreshadow of what was to come.

Well, the nightmare will return when Jurassic World hits theaters on June 12. The movie’s director, Colin Trevorrow, revealed to the Los Angeles Times that the same T. Rex from Steven Spielberg’s classic will feature in the upcoming film.

“The T. Rex in this movie is the same T. Rex from Jurassic Park,” Trevorrow revealed. “She’s been on the island for 22 years. She’s still alive. She’s a little older, and she’s angry.”

Trevorrow went on to add, via Slashfilm, that she’ll look a little different because of the time that has passed, but otherwise it’ll be the same T. Rex that terrified audiences over 20 years ago. My guess is she’ll go up against Indominus rex, which is a brand-new genetically modified dino for the film.

Jurassic World takes place on the same island from the first film, Isla Nublar, and features a fully functioning dinosaur theme park. But, of course, things go terribly wrong when Indominus rex escapes, so it’ll be up to Owen Grady (Christ Pratt) to contain and stop the mutant dinosaur from killing everyone—and everything—on the island.
