It’s been a pretty long time since we heard any worthwhile information about Nike’s FuelBand followup, but as the rumored release timeframe nears, additional snippets are leaking out. According to Andru Edwards over at GearLive, who allegedly saw the follow up during a business trip, the next-gen fitness tracker will be upgraded with a heart rate/pulse monitor, Bluetooth 4.0, better API and more responsive display.
According to Edwards, the device will include a more open API model similar to Jawbone’s Up, which was updated just last month, meaning your data can mingle with more apps than ever. Additionally, users will be able to check FuelBand’s battery life directly from the device itself, adding a stroke of convenience. Oh, and an Android app is being developed, despite what the company said in February.
Just as we heard earlier this year, the (potentially) thinner FuelBands are being tested as we speak, maybe on some Nike endorsed wrist jogging around a college track. Edwards couldn’t confirm a release timeframe, but last we heard Nike was aiming for a summer launch. Well, summer is quickly approaching, so if these rumors do ring true, we’ll hear more official word relatively soon.
