Apple kicked off its developer conference this year with a pretty funny video starring SNL alum Bill Hader, along with a few other recognizable faces. Now the entire video is online to watch in case you missed it the first time around.
Hader plays the director for Apple’s WWDC event as he prepares for the big show. That includes interacting with people in costumes who are supposed to represent various apps, along with an actual goat. Matt Walsh (from HBO’s Veep) makes an appearance dressed as a flying angel investor, and Danny Pudi (Abed from Community) plays a rapping app developer.
The production is a spot-on spoof of Birdman. At the beginning of the video, Hader’s character is caught talking to himself. Once things pick up, we’re treated to long tracking shots and smooth jazz background music, just like in the Oscar winning film.
Near the end of the video, a complicated stunt goes wrong, knocking the system offline for 24 hours. As a result, Apple has to make due with a mostly bare stage, a laptop and a bottle of water. Of course that was the plan all along, though it’s fun to imagine the Cupertino company putting on a much more theatrical show.
