Scully and Mulder were reunited, some major Civil War details dropped, and we’re giving away a copy of Jupiter Ascending. All in a day’s work here at TechnoBuffalo. It was a particularly busy week here because of WWDC, but the entertainment industry paid no mind.
As we were getting our hands on iOS 9 and El Capitan, Marvel was announcing that Jon Bernthal, who played Shane in The Walking Dead, is going to be The Punisher in the next season of Daredevil. Hoo-boy, it’s going to be a good season indeed. Too bad we have to wait until next year.
Aside from that, perhaps the star of this week was the first trailer for Ridley Scott’s The Martian, which is based on a book of the same name. Basically an astronaut gets stranded on the planet and is forced to survive and come to terms with the reality of certain death. Or does he survive? Read the book! Watch the movie!

Original Star Wars script discovered
Can you believe that, even decades later, drafts of the Star Wars script are still being discovered? This one is an odd tale. A librarian at the University of New Brunswick was organizing the science fiction column when she came across the script, which was dated March 15, 1976. It has some great tidbits in it, so check out the source to read more. [CBCNews]

Ant-Man! He’s in the same universe as Marvel, and those involved want to make sure you know that. While his first solo movie won’t involve any of the Avengers, these posters aren’t hiding the fact that the diminutive hero will soon join up with the more popular members. Check them out. They’re great! [DarkHorizons]

Star Wars: The Force Awakens at Comic-Con
Marvel isn’t going to make an appearance at Comic-Con this year, but that isn’t stopping Disney’s other property, Lucasfilm, from showing up. And with The Force Awakens coming out in December, now’s the perfect time to do it. Are we to expect more new footage? Let’s hope so. [HollywoodReporter]

Bad Boys 3 gets a director
Joe Carnahan, who directed 2011’s The Grey, is reportedly in line to direct Bad Boys 3. The first two movies weren’t awful, and Will Smith and Martin Lawrence are a pretty solid comedic team. Be that as it may, we don’t really need a trilogy of Mike Lowrey and Marcus Burnett. But, hey, at least it’s not a remake. [HollywoodReporter]

Boondock Saints TV show
Back in the day, before Norman Reedus was slaying zombies, he was in a little flick known as Boondock Saints. It’s a huge cult hit, and Troy Duffy, writer-director of the original film, thinks it warrants a TV series adaptation. Hey, why not? It won’t include the original actors, but it still sounds pretty cool. [Deadline]

Independence Day 2 gets official synopsis
There’s no way Independence Day 2 is going to be good. But it’s being made (along with potential sequels), and we already have the official synopsis.
After Independence Day redefined the event movie genre, the next epic chapter delivers global catastrophe on an unimaginable scale. Using recovered alien technology, the nations of Earth have collaborated on an immense defence program to protect the planet. But nothing can prepare us for the aliens’ advanced and unprecedented force. Only the ingenuity of a few brave men and women can bring our world back from the brink of extinction.
