Our first look at Fear the Walking Dead doesn’t show a single zombie, yet it’s still absolutely terrifying. The teaser’s effectiveness instead comes from its inference to the outbreak. This guy could be running from anything—a gunman, a fire, a Miley Cyrus song—but we know it isn’t any of those things. We know it’s a walker, rising from the dead to eat our brains.
The character you see running is Nick, played by Frank Dillane. He has a look of utter horror on his face, like what he has seen has rocked him to his core.
Fear the Walking Dead takes place in Los Angeles this time around, and will follow a group of survivors as they navigate the initial zombie outbreak. LA will play a huge role in the story, which is what makes it so intriguing. LA is one of the most populated cities in the world, so you can bet all hell will break loose as the outbreak spreads.
I’m all for drama in The Walking Dead, but let’s hope we also get plenty of zombie horror in this one. It’s still unclear when it’ll debut in August, but you can bet we’ll hear much more at Comic-Con in just a few weeks.
