Even before actor Tom Holland was confirmed as the new Spider-Man, we had a gut feeling the popular web slinger would appear in Captain America: Civil War. And, lo and behold, he will.
Marvel on Wednesday officially confirmed Holland is to immediately report to the set of Civil War, where he will make his first onscreen appearance.
Now, despite that confirmation, it still isn’t really clear how prominently Spider-Man will feature in Cap’s upcoming political tale. Chances are he’ll only get a few scenes, before becoming a larger presence in his own solo film, which is currently scheduled for a July 28, 2017 release.
In the Civil War comic, Spider-Man actually had a very important role to play, though it’s very possible the movie will differ quite a bit from what played out in the comic arc. Following yesterday’s announcement, it was revealed that Holland had already done screen tests with both Chris Evans (Captain America) and Robert Downey Jr. (Iron Man), so perhaps we’ll see him show up in the middle of a scene between the two.
Captain America: Civil War is set to hit theaters on May 6, 2016.
