Comic-Con kicks off next week, but before that madness gets underway, this last week ended with a banger. Several new images from Batman v Superman were released, giving us a great look at what’s to come next year. And, man, the showdown between Batman and Superman can’t come soon enough.
We’re going down to Comic-Con next week in San Diego, so expect more news, trailers and analysis from the show. We’re expecting Warner Bros. to drop some big Batman v Superman news, along with teasers for future films in the DC universe.
In addition, Lucasfilm is holding a panel, where the studio will likely share more footage from Star Wars: The Force Awakens. You can bet we’ll be all over whatever is shared. That’s by far the biggest movie coming out this year, and with only six months until the film’s release, it’s time to get the hype train rolling.

Following the release of some awesome new images, some big details about Batman v Superman have been revealed. The biggest of all is in regards to Batman’s suit. It turns out the Dark Knight’s reinforced mech suit is equipped with strength-augmented armor, along with Kryptonite, which is Superman’s weakness. No clue how Batman came across the material, but there you go. Sounds like Batman will make Superman bleed after all. [ComingSoon]

In a new interview, GoTG director James Gunn said the upcoming sequel will have more of an emotional impact. The first film already dealt with identity, loss and acceptance, and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 will further explore these topics. Notably, Gunn said we’ll learn a lot more about fathers, which hints we’ll finally learn who Peter Quill’s dad is. [io9]

While promoting Ant-Man, io9 had the opportunity to speak with Marvel Studios president, Kevin Feige, who divulged plenty of details about the upcoming MCU. For one, the villain for Spider-Man hasn’t been decided upon, and it turns out Hulk might be in Civil War after all. On that not, Feige implied that the civil war part of Cap’s next adventure will be small, while other aspects of the story will have an even bigger role. [io9]
Ant-Man and his crew
When Ant-Man gets miniaturized on July 17, he’ll have a crew by his side. Among them is Luis (Michael Peña), Dave (T.I.) and Kurt (David Dastmalchian). I won’t say anymore. Just watch the clip above to see what role they’ll play in the movie, which we got a chance to check out earlier this week. Our review for that will drop soon.

Following news that John Bernthal would play The Punisher in season 2 of Daredevil, a report claims to know how he’ll factor into the story. Nerdist says the story will focus on pitting Daredevil up against The Punisher, but it might not be a direct head-to-head. Whereas Daredevil is opposed to killing people, The Punisher isn’t hesitant to put his foes in the ground. It might be more of a moral versus than actual bad guy vs good guy tale. We’re way past needing a sequel to Top Gun, but that doesn’t mean one isn’t going to happen. But rather than making another movie about dogfighting, Top Gun 2: Volleyball Chronicles (not the real title) will apparently focus on the world of drones. So if Tom Cruise does get back into the cockpit, you can expect to see Maverick shoot down those dumb drones everyone is flying around these days. [TheGuardian]

While Terminator Genisys is fresh in our minds, Hollywood is apparently thinking about making a Terminator TV show. A Terminator show has been talked about for a while, and it’ll apparently be penned by the same writers of The Sarah Connor Chronicles. Fun. Ash vs. Evil Dead image
Check out the first image of Ash after a 22-year-hiatus. It’s not much, but it does show Ash (Bruce Campbell) back in his element. His face is bloodied, his appearance is disheveled, and he’s carrying a saw, but damn if he doesn’t look right at home. Fans have been waiting for this moment for over two decades, and it’s about time he returns. Ash vs. Evil Dead will hit Starz this fall with a 10 episode run. [EW]
First trailer for Rocky spinoff hits
Creed, a spinoff of the famous Rocky franchise, has received its first trailer. Featuring Michael B. Jordan and Sylvester Stallone, the movie centers on Adonis Johnson, who is the son of Apollo Creed, a former heavyweight champion. Rocky eventually becomes Johnson’s trainer, in what will likely be a tale about redemption as Johnson looks to get out of his famous father’s shadow.
Wet Hot American Summer trailer
It’s been 14 years since cult favorite Wet Hot American Summer came out, and the show is ready for its triumphant return. Hitting Netflix on July 31, the show will include the entire original cast (along with some new faces) in a limited 8-episode series run. This one is a prequel, which is part of the joke, because everyone is older and noticeably heavier. Except Paul Rudd. He’s eternal.
