I grew up reading R.L. Stine’s Goosebumps, so you’ll forgive me for fanboying out for a moment, but: GOOSEBUMPS. THE. MOVIE.
I was a little skeptical when this one was first announced, but after seeing the first trailer, it looks like great fun. All of the early monsters that are in the books show up, including hundreds of lawn gnomes, the Abominable Snowman from Pasadena, and even Slappy the Dummy, who is probably one of the freakiest characters of them all.
Here’s the official synopsis:
A young kid teams up with the niece of young adult horror author R.L. Stine after the writer’s imaginary demons are set free on the town of Greendale, Maryland.
Just like the books, there’s a wonderful sense of adventure, and seeing the monsters come to life is so cool. Based on the trailer, it looks like this one will be a hit among younger audiences (and me), combining a sense of humor with horror and imagination.
Goosebumps comes out on October 16, 2015, and stars Jack Black, Dylan Minnette, Odeya Rush and Halston Sage.
