Nutrition information is being added to Google search so you’re always reminded why you should be eating clean. Not everyone is a certified nutritionist, and learning the macros of everything you’re eating is a lot harder than it sounds. So Google is making that info much more accessible, putting a wealth of information right in your results.
Of course, everything is based off Google’s Knowledge Graph, which by now pretty much knows everything. Say you want to know how much protein is in a banana. Simply search, “How much protein is in a banana?” and your answer will display beautifully right next to the familiar Web results. Maybe it’s not something you’ll do on a regular basis, but beach season is coming up after all.
Google also lets you see additional nutrition info under an expansion menu, where you can switch to other related foods and see foods broken down by serving sizes. Information for over 1,000 fruits, veggies, meats and meals are covered, so chances are you’ll be able to plan your diet based on Google search results alone. Look out for the feature rolling out today in the U.S., with more foods and features coming later this year.
