Batman: The Killing Joke is one of the most iconic DC comics of all time, and the animated film adaption may be just as impressive. We already know that the upcoming movie will be rated R. Now the first full trailer is out and it definitely doesn’t pull any punches.
The trailer opens with Batman as he visits the Joker in prison for a friendly chat. The caped crusader says he’s been thinking about their relationship and believes that it’s likely to end with one of them killing the other. As the monologue continues, we see the Joker’s reign of terror play out. Nothing here is particularly graphic, though there are certainly a few jarring images.
The new movie offers a distinct visual style, borrowing some elements from the original Killing Joke along with other Batman comics. We can’t wait to watch the full movie once it finally arrives. There’s still no set release date, but you can take a closer look in the screencap gallery below.
