The first trailer for Star Trek Beyond was a bit of a let down for fans, but now the Justin Lin-directed flick is back with trailer number two, and it’s much, much better than the first.
Among a barrage of really cool action, the trailer gives us a much deeper look at Captain Kirk and his crew, along with the big villain in the movie played by Idris Elba. (What is it about Elba that makes him such a terrifying villain? He was amazing in The Jungle Book and he has such a presence as Krall.)
We haven’t seen much of Star Trek Beyond ahead of its release on July 22, but based on the most recent footage, I don’t think fans have to worry about.
Justin Lin has proven he can handle big movies and ensemble casts before having been in charge of multiple Fast & Furious movies, so prospects are good for Beyond. However, the film still does look like it’s going to be a “Fast & Furious in space,” which, honestly, doesn’t look like the worst thing in the world.
