Disney continues its massive winning streak this year with yet another hit.
1. Finding Dory
Finding Dory scored the biggest opening weekend ever for an animated film with $136.1M, a 93.8 percent bump over the original film’s opening weekend. We’ll see how it does in the coming weeks, but it looks like Disney made a good choice in making this follow-up film.
2. Central Intelligence
The new Dwayne Johnson and Kevin hart comedy Central Intelligence had a strong opening weekend with $34.5M. While not huge, it’s in line with other Kevin Hart comedies and is probably looking at $100M by the time it’s done with its theatrical run.
3. The Conjuring 2
The Conjuring 2 dipped 61.5 percent in its second weekend taking in $15.55M for a new domestic total of $71.73M and a global haul of $187.93M off of its $40M budget. You might as well prepare yourself for a third film.
4. Now You See Me 2
Now You See Me 2 slipped to fourth place this week dropping 56.9 percent in its second weekend and took in $9.65M and sits at $41.36M domestically. The original film was at $60.91M at this point in its run, so things are not looking good.
5. Warcraft
Rounding out the top five was Warcraft which slipped a massive 73 percent to take in $6.52M to sit at $37.71M domestically off of its $160M budget. Before we write it off as a complete failure, globally it sits at $377.61M. The U.S. may not be digging it, but the foreign markets seem to love it.
