Alan Tudyk’s droid in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story doesn’t give a crap

At today’s Star Wars Celebration in London, actor Alan Tudyk was on hand to talk about the character he plays in Rogue One, a reprogrammed Imperial droid named K-2SO, who, as it turns out, could care less. Think of him as the anti-C3PO; he’s not there to do your bidding and answer your every beck and call. In short, don’t expect him to be your servant.

A brief clip was shared during the panel that shows K-2SO in action, and the exchange between him and Diego Luna’s character, Cassian Andor, is hilarious. After a discussion between Cassian and Jyn Erso, the two start walking away toward the horizon. As they do so, Cassian hands K-2SO a backpack, but the droid isn’t the least bit interested in carrying it.

It’s a funny moment for a character who is apparently a little volatile. We still don’t know too much about the former enforcer droid—he’s “friends” with Cassian—but just because he’s a robot doesn’t mean he has a master.
