Brad Pitt plays intelligence officer Max Vatan in a new spy thriller set during World War II. At its heart, Allied, which is based on a true story, is about love and family. Beneath the surface, the film explores themes of war, politics, and, integral to every relationship, trust.
Here’s the official synopsis from Paramount Pictures:
ALLIED is the story of intelligence officer Max Vatan (Pitt), who in 1942 North Africa encounters French Resistance fighter Marianna Beausejour (Cotillard) on a deadly mission behind enemy lines. Reunited in London, their relationship is threatened by the extreme pressure of the war.
Based on the trailer, it looks like Allied will focus less on action and more on drama, which is fine by us. Pitt and Cotillard are among the best actors working today, and director Robert Zemeckis (The Walk, Forrest Gump, Flight) is still at the top of his game.
Allied is scheduled for a Nov. 23, 2016 release.
