We never had any doubts Superman would return following his tragic death in Batman v Superman, we just didn’t know in what capacity. Would he have a minor role and show up near the end? How will the film segue into Man of Steel 2, which is reportedly being worked on at Warner Bros.? We still don’t have the answer to these questions, but we do know that Superman will sport a new wardrobe.
Henry Cavill on Monday posted a photo to Instagram teasing the superhero’s return. Only, he won’t wear his familiar blue and red suit; rather, it looks like he’ll wear a black costume, which, in the comics, he wears to help him recover from a deadly fight with Doomsday.
It’s unclear if Superman will simply wear this suit as he recovers from his injuries, or if he’ll actually wear it in battle when Justice League comes out. Following his death, Warner Bros. has made Superman a bit of a background figure as the focus moves to the other members of the Justice League. However, we pretty much know for certain he’ll return, along with what appears to be a brand new suit.
In Man of Steel, Zod and his crew wore black suits, so it shouldn’t be all that unfamiliar to the former Krypton native.
