Netflix’s Stranger Things has become a bonafide phenomenon. The fantastic sci-fi series pays homage to every good thing about the 1980s—and it has one of the best soundtracks, too. It’s no surprise to hear it’s trending well compared to other Netflix shows.
While the streaming service has yet to announce a second season, perhaps the viewership numbers will encourage Netflix to give the Duffer Brothers the green light.
In addition to a 94 percent certified fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes, Stranger Things has apparently shown to be more popular than shows such as Daredevil, Making a Murderer, and Jessica Jones. The stats were provided by SymphonyAM, which took a look at data from the time the show went live and tracked it for the next 16 days.
It’s worth noting that Netflix doesn’t provide viewership numbers and has disputed SymphonyAM’s data in the past. Given the amount of buzz surrounding Stranger Things, however, I wouldn’t be surprised if SymphonyAM’s data is accurate. I don’t think there’s been a show this universally beloved in a while.
Surprisingly, Fuller House sits at number one, just ahead of Orange Is the New Black, which recently returned for its fourth season. If you haven’t seen Stranger Things yet, check out the show’s trailer down below.
