Assassin's Creed leap of faith

I mean, it’s just common sense, right? Everyday science and physics and stuff. If you jump from a church tower 125 feet in the air and land in a haystack, you’re going to be just fine. I mean, assassins do it on a whim everyday and walk away without a scratch. What’s the big deal?

Well, such leaps actually take a lot of planning. In the upcoming Assassin’s Creed feature-length movie, Michael Fassbender’s stuntman Damien Walters had to perform one of these leaps of faith. At 125 feet, his freefall stunt is the biggest in 35 years, and the preparation for his safety was properly cataloged in a video shared by the official Twitter page.

Yeah, no thank you. I’ll leave stunts like that to the professionals and my video game avatars.

In case you were wondering, the film released 35 years ago in 1981 was a Burt Reynolds flick called Sharky’s Machine. I’ve never heard of it, but I did know of stuntman Dar Robinson. His freefall leap was 220 feet, almost twice that of this Assassin’s Creed jump.

Assassin’s Creed will be released in theaters nationwide on Dec. 21.
