See full gallery on TechnoBuffaloEarlier this year, a Deadline report claimed Zendaya Coleman, an actress-singer and major Disney Channel star, would have a big role to play in Spider-Man: Homecoming. Now, according to a report from The Wrap, we finally have more details.
According to sources close to the project, the 19-year-old is taking on the role of Mary Jane Watson, longtime love interest of Peter Parker/Spider-Man (Tom Holland). The role was most recently played by Kirsten Dunst in Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man trilogy.
Back when Zendaya was cast, reports claimed she was playing a character named Michelle, but that was apparently a ruse to throw people off. No further details about her character have been revealed, but what else is there to say?
Holland’s Spider-Man made his long-awaited debut in Captain America: Civil War earlier this year, giving us a taste of what to expect from the younger Peter Parker. Other actors set to appear in the film include Robert Downey Jr., Marisa Tomei, Michael Keaton, Tony Revolori, and Michael Chernus.
Spider-Man: Homecoming is set for a July 7, 2017, release.
