Doug Liman, who has directed The Bourne Identity and Edge of Tomorrow, is filling in for Guillermo del Toro to direct Dark Universe, also known as Justice League Dark. The film will revolve around the characters John Constantine, Swamp Thing, Deadman, Zatanna, and Etrigan the Demon.
According to Variety, the movie is expected to play a “major role” in the new DC Expanded Universe. Boy, I hope Keanu Reeves returns as Constantine; his turn as the character in the 2005 film is highly underrated. (I’m being serious.) No plot details have been revealed and it’s unclear when the Liman-directed flick is planned for a release.
Del Toro was originally slated to direct but he apparently had to drop out due to scheduling conflicts. The good news is del Toro drafted the most recent script, so his patented brand of macabre will be all over the movie.
