The Star Wars prequels don’t exactly conjure up the same warm and fuzzy feelings of the originals. Still, surely Natalie Portman wants to share these treasures with her kid. Not exactly.
The actress, who portrayed Princess Padme Amidala, sat down with Jimmy Kimmel and discussed whether or not her son has seen the movies. Surprisingly, he hasn’t and won’t anytime soon—but it’s not for the reason you think.
Turns out, the Oscar-winning actress doesn’t think it’s a good idea to show her son a movie in which mom dies.
Always the gracious host, Kimmel quips, “It’s bad if [your death] scares him, it’s worse if they like it.” Kimmel also points out Portman likely won’t be showing her son Black Swan either, the psychological thriller which earned her a Best Actress Oscar in 2011, due to its mature nature.
The whole exchange is really funny and shows the delicate line between being an actor and a parent. Check out the whole video above.
