Thor took a break after saving the world again in Age of Ultron, but instead of escaping to Asgard, he fled to Australia for a “little downtime.”
His misadventures can be seen in a funny mockumentary (above) made by director Taika Waititi, in which we see the mighty Norse god sharing a flat with a man named Darryl Jacobson. Speaking of whom, we might see Darryl again in a future Marvel property.
While speaking to IGN, Waititi provided a few more details about Darryl.
“Thor briefly rented a room in a flat in Australia after the Ultron debacle,” Waititi said. “Just to get some downtime—to get away from The Avengers, to get away from America. So he had a little downtime in Australia. And he met this guy Darryl and they shared a flat together. So that’s Darryl.”
Waititi went on to say that it’s very likely we’ll see Darryl again. Where? The director didn’t say but with Thor: Ragnarok on the horizon, chances are he’ll appear in that. Or, another possibility is Marvel releasing an extended version of the mockumentary that was shown at Comic-Con this past summer.
“There may be other little pieces of that thing that everyone saw that may just be a small part of a bigger thing,” Waititi said.
Honestly, I could watch an entire feature-length film of Thor trying to be “normal” while living with Darryl. You can see the two together in the video above.
