The Magnificent Seven takes the top spot at the box office

The fall season is upon us at the box office and the box office openings are definitely reflecting the usual downturn in business.

1. The Magnificent Seven

The latest remake of The Seven Samurai – which is what the original The Magnificent Seven was – opened in first place this weekend with $35M off of a $90M budget.

2. Storks

Storks is the latest animated film to hit theaters, but with an opening of $21.8M off of a $70M budget it appears it could be rough sailing for this one.

3. Sully

Sully took in $13.83M in its third weekend. It now stands at $92.39M domestically and $126.89M globally off of a $60M budget.

4. Bridget Jones’s Baby

Bridget Jones’s Baby slipped to fourth place in its second weekend with $4.52M. Domestically it sits at $16.45M and Globally it has hit $83.55M from a $35M budget.

5. Snowden

Oliver Stone’s Snowden about the infamous NSA leaker slipped to fifth place with $4.14M. Domestically it sits at $15.13M from a $40M budget.
