So, now we know.
Well, we knew already. But we finally have our first look at Kurt Russell as Ego, also known as Peter Quill’s father.
Ego’s look has obviously been tweaked (quite significantly) to fit the movie’s narrative. In the comics, Ego is literally a living planet. In Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 he’s just a regular bearded dude.
The trailer doesn’t reveal too many plot details, instead focusing on smaller moments throughout the movie. We do, however, get a pretty good look at the different locations the Guardians will travel to throughout the galaxy, and they look absolutely gorgeous.
The first film offered plenty of action and humor, and the sequel looks to be more of the same while digging deeper into who these characters are. In addition to finding out who Peter Quill’s father is, we’ll also get to see the dynamic between Gamora and Nebula fleshed out, along with Baby Groot getting into all kinds of trouble.
Along with the trailer, director James Gunn also unveiled a new poster (which looks fabulous), and it includes the name of Sylvester Stallone, someone who had been rumored to appear in the film.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 will hit theaters on May 5.
