After a few days of teasers, Warner Bros. has officially unveiled the first trailer for Justice League. Most of the footage is new—we saw a lot at last year’s Comic Con—giving us a glimpse at each character in action, including Cyborg, who we have seen very little of over the past few months.
Of course, this being Warner Bros., it’s hard to get a feel for what the final product will be like. We’re enjoying what we’re seeing—there’s a confidence despite the critical disappointment of Batman v Superman. The action is cool, the characters are distinct, and there’s even a bit of humor. It looks like the scenes with Bruce Wayne and Barry Allen are going to be a standout.
However, for all the heroic action and exposition, we still don’t really know what’s going on. I mean, we know Steppenwolf will show up in the film at some point. But the trailer doesn’t really flesh out what the Justice League are up against. Which is a good thing, because we don’t want the entire movie to be spoiled so far ahead of its release.
What are your super powers again?
There’s a lot going on here, which we will unpack another day. But it’s worth noting that all the characters look like they’re having a good time, which has to count for something, right? Also worth noting is Henry Cavill’s Superman is nowhere to be seen, though we do get a brief look at Lois Lane. How she’ll factor into the movie remains to be seen.
Justice League hits theaters on November 17.
