Ahead of the game’s official release, Telltale this week released an extended look at Guardians of the Galaxy, which is based on the popular Marvel property.
Although the game doesn’t have any of the movie’s original cast, the game still features plenty of charm and humor. Peter Quill is cocky and assured, while Drax doesn’t understand the nuance of sarcasm. Basically, everything you loved about the first movie will be front and center when the game’s first episode is released on April 18.
This isn’t the first time Telltale has adapted a popular franchise. The developer previously released Jurassic Park, The Walking Dead, Game of Thrones, and Batman, so it has plenty of experience.
In the new Guardians series, Star-Lord, Groot, Rocket Raccoon, and the rest of the team will encounter an “artifact of unspeakable power,” which each of them will have a “reason to desire.” They’ll also come across Thanos, who the live-action Guardians may finally battle in Avengers: Infinity War.
There will be five episodes
Purchasing the season pass will get you all five episodes, which are set to be released throughout the year; you can also purchase episodes individually for $4.99. The first episode coming in April is called “Tangled Up in Blue,” and will be available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, iOS, and Android devices.
