According to a job listing, Spotify has aspirations that go well beyond the world of music streaming.
First spotted by Zatz Not Funny, the listing has some lofty expectations for an ambitious person.
“You will be leading an initiative to deliver hardware directly from Spotify to existing and new customers; a category defining product akin to Pebble watch, Amazon Echo, and Snap Spectacles,” the job listing reads.
Please, don’t let it be an MP3 player.
The listing continues, “You will define the product requirements for internet-connected hardware, the software that powers it, and work with suppliers/manufacturers to deliver the optimal Spotify experience to millions of users.”

It’s unclear what product Spotify intends to release, or if it even has an idea of what it’s going to make. The company is certainly setting up lofty expectations by mentioning the Amazon Echo and Snap Spectacles. What could the company possibly have planned?
At the very least, the product will integrate with its streaming service. So, will it be a speaker? An iPod-like device? Or something we’ve never seen before?
