Wonder Woman is less than a month away. There’s not much left that the trailers can reveal without making us question whether or not we should still buy tickets. So on Sunday night at the MTV Movie & TV Awards, Wonder Woman got her final trailer, and it’s a doozy. Despite my frustration with Man of Steel and Batman v Superman, I’ve been excited about Wonder Woman since Gal Gadot brought Diana of Themyscira to life alongside Bruce Wayne and Kal-El in the latter. The trailer houses everything we want to see in a superhero movie: awesome action, some humor, and a classic hero brought to life the way we imagined it as kids.
She has a doctorate in poisonology
There’s a lot of footage we’ve already seen in the trailer, but this is, to the best of my knowledge, our first good look at the movie’s villain, Doctor Poison. Doctor Poison is a long-time Wonder Woman villain. In the comics, she first popped up in World War II, though the shift back to the first war requires a bit of recalibrating. It actually makes sense though. World War I was the first appearance of chemical warfare, and a villain like Doctor Poison matches that perfectly.
As to what Doctor Poison has up her sleeve? From the trailer, it looks a lot more deadly than her classic poison, Reverso – yes, Reverso – which caused those poisoned to do the opposite of what they’re told. Everything in comics was goofy back then.
This is a great last trailer to hype the movie before we go into a few weeks of silence before the movie. Wonder Woman hits theaters on June 2.
