Our first glimpse of Michael Bay’s newest live-action take on Transformers had us feeling pretty underwhelmed, leaving us to roll our eyes and shrug our shoulders. But this latest cut of Transformers: Age of Extinction has us singing a different tune entirely. Now I’m not saying this movie will be good, but the latest trailer is significantly more entertaining than the first, and actually shares some plot details, which is good if you want to actually generate interest in a movie.
Whereas the teaser simply showed plenty of yelling and excessive explosions, the newest trailer shows… plenty of yelling and excessive explosions. But there’s also some minor hints of substance, though the familiar Bay tropes are in full force. From what we gather, Age of Extinction will focus on Cade Yeager (played by Mark Wahlberg), as he stumbles across the remains of Optimus Prime, who has for some reason been abandoned. Remember, this film is supposed to pick up where Dark of the Moon left off, so it definitely opens up some questions.
In addition to providing some small plot tidbits, the trailer also shows off more of the Dinobots in action. Will an all-new cast of characters and Transformers help spark to life what has almost become a parody under Michael Bay? We’ll find out soon enough. Transformers: Age of Extinction hits theaters on June 27, 2014.
