Disney and Marvel have Guardians of the Galaxy coming out in just over a month (Aug. 1), but that’s not the only big movie to look forward to in the Marvel Universe. A new trailer for Disney’s Big Hero 6 was released on Tuesday; it’s a new animated superhero movie that’s inspired by the Marvel comic of the same name. This is the first Disney animated film to feature Marvel characters, and it looks every bit as good as you’d expect a Disney/Marvel movie to look.
The movie focuses on a young kid named Hiro Hamada who has an uncanny talent for creating robots. In the trailer, his balloon-like robot, Baymax, is Hiro’s partner in crime and best bud. According to the official plot summary, Hiro and Baymax uncover a criminal plot and pull a team together of crime-fighters (a la Kick-Ass), including characters such as Wasabi, Honey Lemon, GoGo Tomago and Fred. Pretty creative name there, Fred.
Big Hero 6 looks to combine Marvel’s wondrous superhero flair with Disney’s amazing animation skills. Judging from the trailer, it’ll be equal parts funny and entertaining. The animation, meanwhile, looks top notch. I know very little about this film, but I’m already sold. Big Hero 6 is dropping on Nov. 7.
