The very first image of Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman was released on Saturday, and she looks more Xena Warrior Princess than the bright and colorful character comic fans are familiar with. That doesn’t mean she doesn’t look awesome—she looks powerful, determined, dangerous. Just as you’d expect a tough superhero to look. With her is her magical sword, which is forged by Hephaustus in the comic.
Many were concerned that Gadot didn’t have the build to pull Wonder Woman off, but I think we can put those fears to bed right now.
Earlier this week, director Zack Snyder released yet another shot of Ben Affleck in the role of Batman, and he’s still as moody as ever. But we’re now starting to get a short peek at the mood and atmosphere going into this film. Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is obviously a big setup for something much larger; the film will also feature Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luther, though we haven’t yet seen what he looks like.
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice will also see Henry Cavill reprise his role as Superman, and also feature Amy Adam, Laurence Fishburne, Diane Lane and more. The film is set to hit theaters on May 6, 2016, so we’re still pretty far removed from the release. But with a fresh look at Gadot in the role as Wonder Woman, we’re pretty sure the casting was spot on.
