Bayonetta: Bloody Fate has finally given a few hints regarding its localization with the intro now entirely dubbed into English. The often discussed, but rarely seen, anime is getting a full Blu-ray release on Oct. 21, and fans can even preorder it now directly through Funimation’s official website for $26.24.
The anime has already been available in Japan for over a year, leading me to think that many of you have already watched it through shady means. Don’t’ let that stop you from showering this release with money. A lot of great names are attached to this project who deserve your support, like Afro Samurai director Fuminori Kizaki and anime studio Gonzo.
It’s been a while since I’ve been into anime, but looking from back in my heyday, these guys are responsible for great shows like Last Exile, Full Metal Panic!, and Hellsing, the last of which fits right into Bayonetta‘s style of action.
More recognizable on my wavelength of the nerd spectrum though are Platinum Games and Nintendo, two companies who can only benefit from a Bayonetta anime thriving in popularity. Bayonetta 2 is expected to be released exclusively for the Wii U at about the same time, meaning that the hype surrounding the anime can do nothing but help sell more copies.
Let’s just hope that people don’t put the anime over the actual game if that’s the case.
Hellena Taylor returns to voice the long legged witch, and much of the game’s cast will also reprise their roles. I have to admit, as much as I loved playing through the first Bayonetta, its cutscenes were a little too painful for me to watch. I understand that the cheese factor was kind of the point, but I don’t think I have what it takes to sit through and stomach an entire film of its brand of double entendre jokes.
