Had a good week at work? Enjoy kicking back with some buds on a Friday night? Maybe get in some Mario Kart 8? Well, you’ve got nothing on how The Avengers party.
Originally Marvel had planned to debut the first trailer for Avengers: Age of Ultron during last night’s episode of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., but thanks to a leak last week it decided to go ahead and release it officially. That changed the game plan a bit and it then opted to show off a scene from the film instead. The “hammer scene” as folks are calling it has shown up at a few conventions already, but this is the first time it has been shown widely.
We don’t have any clue what The Avengers are celebrating, but they’ve all gathered in Avengers tower – formerly Stark Tower – and when Thor sets down Mjolnir on the coffee table, conversation turns to whether or not he truly is the only one who can pick it up. Tony gives it a go. Tony gives it another go wearing an Iron Man Gauntlet. Tony and James Rhodes give it a go together wearing armor gauntlets. Steve Rogers gives it a go… and it moves slightly, causing Thor to stop smiling. The other Avengers make comments about it until the party is interrupted by the appearance of a badly damaged Ultron.
He’s like that one kid who shows up at the cool kids party that no one invited.
Marvel has had a busy few days with the trailer release, announcing nine new movies yesterday and now the first clip from Age of Ultron. It’s hard to believe this was a company that was bankrupt in the 1990s and on the verge of shutting its doors, and now it’s the hottest entertainment brand in the world.
So, come on Marvel… what have you got for us next week?
