If you were hoping to watch the latest Steve Jobs movie to gain a closer look into Apple’s beloved co-founder, you may want to search elsewhere. At least, if you consider that one of Apple’s executives thinks it’s a poor and inaccurate portrayal of Jobs. Apple’s senior vice president of Internet Software and Services took to Twitter recently to express his outrage at the movie, which was directed by Alex Gibney.
The film, Steve Jobs: Man in the Machine, made its debut recently and has received a fair share of criticism from news outlets that were in attendance. “A convincing, but perhaps unnecessary, primer on Steve Jobs’s flaws and misdeeds,” The Hollywood Reporter said. “Gibney doesn’t exactly go in for cheap shots here, but you do get the sense that he’s making use of every weapon in his arsenal,” Variety noted.
Perhaps the most bitter attack of all came from Cue on Twitter.
“Very disappointed in SJ:Man in the Machine,” Cue said. “An inaccurate and mean-spirited view of my friend. It’s not a reflection of the Steve I knew. Best portrayal is about to be released – Becoming Steve Jobs (book). Well done and first to get it right.” Apple declined to participate in any part of Gibney’s film, which meant his access was highly limited.
Another Steve Jobs film, the biopic written by Aaron Sorkin, will start filming later this year. Maybe it will offer a more balanced look at the life of Steve Jobs.
