The world’s most famous bionic detective, Inspector Gadget, is returning to Netflix this Friday, March 27, and Netflix on Tuesday released the first trailer to get folks excited. It looks amusing in its fresh coat of animated paint, and the titular leading man is just as clumsy and aloof as ever. The show definitely looks like it’s taking on a more kid-friendly tone, which is fine by us. Everyone likes a lovable klutz.
In the show, the evil Dr. Claw has reactivated his global crime syndicate, M.A.D., bringing Inspector Gadget back into action. His niece, Penny, and her dog, Brain, also make appearances as Inspector Gadget’s sidekicks, though we all know that they’re the real heroes of the operation. Pretty much everything Inspector Gadget does makes you question how he’s a detective in the first place, but that’s what’s so charming about the show.
Netflix continues to hit gold with its original shows, so I wouldn’t write this one off just yet. If you need to keep your kids occupied this weekend, Inspector Gadget might not be a bad choice.
