Want to bring Unbroken home? Then we’ve got just the contest for you!
Unbroken is the Academy Award nominated film directed by Angelina Jolie, and it has now made its way to home video. The folks at Dolby have graciously provided us with three copies of the film to give away to our readers to help celebrate the release, and the fact that it uses the superb Dolby Atmos technology. While the technology has been used in over 180 theatrical releases since it premiered with Disney’s Brave in 2012, it is still fairly new in the home video market.
The latest technology from Dolby is used to allow filmmakers to move sound around a theater – including overhead – to give viewers a more immersive experience, and now that is making its way into our living rooms. Even if you don’t have an Atmos systemyet, which the equipment launched this past June, you will still hear a better sound quality from your televisions speakers or existing stereo system. Andrew DeCristofaro, Supervising Sound Editor of Unbroken notes, “[With Dolby Atmos] you expect the big action sequences—the planes flying around—to be amazing but what it also opens up so beautifully are the background atmospheres—when you’re in the ocean, or in the jungle and you hear the bugs. It feels like you’re in that space…it feels more realistic.”
