All good things come to an end, but not the Fast & Furious franchise. We already knew another film was coming down the pipeline, we just didn’t know when. Well, thanks to Vin Diesel, we have the official release date: April 14, 2017. Get work off, tell your girlfriend you’re busy, because it’s going to be a glorious, glorious day.
Details about Furious 8 are light at this point, but early rumblings claim it’ll take place in New York, with Kurt Russell’s Mr. Nobody apparently playing a much larger part in the film. That’s about it. Expect bigger stunts, crazier action and even better one-liners.
Who would have thought the Fast & Furious franchise would blossom into one of Hollywood’s largest original properties? Not me, but I’m very glad it has. The films remain entertaining, if it a little hallow on plot, but, man, nobody can argue with Vin Diesel’s commitment and conviction.
“I don’t have friends; I have family.” Absolute gold.
As of now, no other big movie is scheduled for that date, and only Pacific Rim 2 has been announced for an April release in 2017.
