If you’re still mourning the end of Parks and Recreation we’ve got some good news. Aziz Ansari and a few of the show’s producers have signed a deal with Netflix for a new 10-episode series. Along with Ansari, the agreement also includes Parks and Recreation co-executive producer Alan Yang, co-creator Michael Schur and executive producer David Miner.
Alongside Ansari, the new show will also star H. Jon Benjamin (best known for his voice acting on Bobs Burgers and Archer), along with Eric Wareheim of Tim & Eric, and Lena Waithe from Dear White People. Claire Danes will apparently play a smaller role as a guest star.
Details of the plot are still scarce, but Deadline reports that it could include “semi-autobiographical elements” and focus on dating and relationships, topics Ansari has covered in recent standup specials. There’s also no word on when the new show will premiere, so it could be a while before we see it arrive on Netflix.
The video streaming giant has been racking up new shows recently, ranging from an upcoming Full House reboot to a new documentary series from the team behind Planet Earth. Today’s news is still a pretty big deal though, thanks to the built-in popularity of Parks and Recreation. It’s also an obvious fit for Ansari, whose last two standup specials were released exclusively on Netflix.
