A fresh batch of set photos from Captain America: Civil War has given us our first look at Cap’s new adventure, along with a look at Frank Grillo as Crossbones. Marvel has already confirmed the cast for the upcoming film, but up until now we haven’t seen what Crossbones will look like on the big screen.
I like what I see.
While a lot of the characters aren’t present here, we do get a sense of where the focus will be. Oh, and we also get to see Captain America, tough guy superhero, shaded by an assistant’s umbrella.
Among the characters that appear in the photos, we get to see Captain America (Chris Evans), Falcon (Anthony Mackie) and Crossbones, though we’re not sure if that’s Frank Grillo under the helmet. Last time we saw Frank Grillo’s character, Brock Rumlow, he was in poor condition following the downfall of S.H.I.E.L.D. in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, but it looks like he has made a full recovery, and he has vengeance on his mind.
Other Marvel characters confirmed to make an appearance in Civil War: Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.), Black Widow (Scarlet Johansson), Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan), The Vision (Paul Bethany), Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner), War Machine (Don Cheadle), Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen), Ant-Man (Paul Rudd), Black Panther (Chadwick Boseman), Agent 13 (Emily VanCamp), Baron Helmut Zemo (Daniel Brühl) and Spider-Man, though no official actor has been named.
The film will pick up soon after Age of Ultron, and pit Captain America against Iron Man as they fall on different sides of a government mandate. Even though the Avengers will be divided, they’ll have to come together to fight another “nefarious villain,” who we think is being played by Brühl.
We’ll have plenty more Civil War coverage in the coming months. For now, check out the set photos above.
