Paul Rudd provides tiny Ant-Man and the Wasp update

Following an impressive $519 million haul at the box office, Marvel didn’t hesitate to green-light an Ant-Man sequel. Unfortunately, fans will have to wait until the summer of 2018, which means we’re still months and months away from seeing what the character’s next adventure will be.

While it’ll be a long time until production gets underway, actor Paul Rudd did say that a treatment for the story has already been turned in.

Speaking with Entertainment Tonight, Rudd provided an update on the project’s status:

We’ve been coming up with the story, just turned in a treatment, but it’s so preliminary. We’ll see. We have an idea of what it might look like but it could change a lot from where we’re at now.

A treatment is typically the step before a screenplay, so plenty of writing still needs to be done. If Marvel doesn’t like the treatment that was turned in, then it’ll be back to the drawing board for Rudd and writing partner Judd Apatow, who also contributed to the first movie.

Everything is still in the very early stages but chances are we’ll see Rudd’s Ant-Man show up in other Marvel movies before his next solo bow. Ant-Man and the Wasp is scheduled to hit theaters on July 6, 2018.
