If this week’s trailer for Marvel’s Luke Cage wasn’t enough, Netflix has shared a handful of photos from the upcoming show. They’re a wonderful reflection of the mood Marvel is going for, making Harlem as much of a character as Cornell “Cottonmouth” Stokes, the villain of the series.
Luke appears to be a reluctant hero, but now that his neighborhood is under threat, he’s finally coming out of his shell.
Judging by these new pictures, the unfortunate side effect of fighting crime isn’t just mustering the energy to do so, but having to replace so many perfectly good shirts.
Here’s the show’s official synopsis:
After a sabotaged experiment leaves him with super strength and unbreakable skin, Luke Cage (Mike Colter) becomes a fugitive trying to rebuild his life in modern day Harlem, New York City. But he is soon pulled out of the shadows and must fight a battle for the heart of his city—forcing him to confront a past he had tried to bury.
Apparently, Marvel’s Iron Fist will show up toward the end of Luke Cage, so this one will definitely be one to look out for. Luke Cage hits Netflix on Sept. 30.
