Devo’s Mark Mothersbaugh to score Thor: Ragnarok

Mark Mothersbaugh, co-founder of new wave ‘70s band Devo, has been hired to compose the music for Marvel’s Thor: Ragnarok. I am not joking you.

Considering who’s directing Ragnarok (Taika Waititi) and the shenanigans that have been occurring behind the scenes, this is not the least bit surprising.

Outside of his work with Devo, Mothersbaugh has been a prolific composer who has worked on everything from Rugrats to 21 Jump Street to The Lego Movie. You might also recognize his work from several of Wes Anderson’s films, including The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou and Rushmore.

If you weren’t excited for Thor: Ragnarok already, Mothersbaugh’s hiring should get you pumped. The film is currently scheduled to hit theaters on Nov. 3, 2017.

If you’re unfamiliar with Mothersbaugh’s work, below are a few of his best compositions.
